1) Pilot Knob State Park It is located a few miles south east of the city and is one of the oldest state parks in Iowa, featuring sweeping vistas and unique ecological areas. The center of attraction of park is a CCC – era Observation Tower which is listed on National Register of Historic Places. People can stand at the top the tower on “Pilot Knob” and enjoy the natural sights and breathtaking views.

Hike includes five miles for equestrians. Winter is a season for Snowmobiling and cross-country skiing with a warming house with heat and electricity.
Try discovering Iowa’s most unique ecological features while exploring Pilot Knob. You will find a 4-acre floating sphagnum bog known as Deadman’s Lake within the park which turns out home to many unique wildlife species.
Ice fishing is a very popular activity here in winter. Lake is almost of 15 acres containing bass, catfish and bluegill.
If you can try reserving one of two open shelters for outdoor gathering. An open-air amphitheater has almost 1,000 seats and is available for large events such as weddings. Shelters can be reserved through the online reservation system for Pilot Knob State Park.

The factory area mainly includes assembling metal stamping division, plastics facility, sawmill and cabinet shop, and sewing and design departments.

Days and Hours: November–mid-December: Mon–Fri 1:00 pm. No tours mid-December–March 31. Closed holidays and 1 week in July.
